This past October, Rutger Zuydervelt aka Machinefabriek released an album with Anne Bakker entitled Deining. It was a single 26 minute piece comprised of long glissandi, sine waves, and radio static. This past Friday, Zuydervelt and Bakker performed Deining at the International Film Festival Rotterdam alongside a video by Marco Douma. However, the piece was expanded from a duet to sextet—a string quintet and Zuydervelt on electronics. You can stream the piece above or on the Machinefabriek Bandcamp page.
