Shelter Press has released a new album from Thomas Ankersmit. It's entitled Homage to Dick Raaijmakers and, as the title suggests, finds the Berlin-based musician paying homage to the Dutch artist Dick Raaijmakers. The album features a single 34-minute track that was inspired by Raaijmakers's music from the 60s and his texts on sound composition. The press release notes that the piece "uses tones produced by the listener’s own ears" wherein "the listener’s inner ears actively generate sounds that don’t exist in the recorded signal, and which can change with a small movement of the head." The piece can be streamed above via the label's Bandcamp page. There, you can purchase the album digitally or on CD and LP. Copies are also available from Boomkat and Forced Exposure.
