Falt Releases New Cassette Batch: Bruno Duplant, kNN, Matthew Atkins, and Mark Lyken

Falt has released its new batch of limited cassettes that are also all available for free digital streaming via the label’s Bandcamp page. The first album comes from Bruno Duplant and is entitled Ruptures & Continuités. The album was composed with material recorded with a cell phone and a bit of synthesizer that was then all filtered into a small tape recorder. You can purchase the cassette here.

The second new album comes from kNN and is entitled Several Audio Tests For Magnetophones And Magnetic Tapes. The cassette is comprised of four tracks that run for approximately nine minutes. As a note, the B side contains the same audio as the A side. While short, these pieces are heartening in their simplicity. You can find more information about the release and purchase it here

The third new album comes from Matthew Atkins and is entitled Cryptic System. The album spans 24 minutes across its two sides and features a delicate collage of sounds including synthesizers and found objects. You can purchase the album here.

The final new album from Falt comes from Mark Lyken and is entitled Green Above The Blades. The release contains three tracks across its two sides that span 38 minutes. The description for the album lists numerous objects that were used for the recordings, including daffodils, milk bottles, gameboys, and contact mics. You can purchase the album here.

Bruno Duplant's Fictions Out Now on Aussenraum Records

Bruno Duplant's You are here (Somewhere) came out just a few days ago but he also released another full-length album the week before. The album is entitled Fictions and was released by Aussenraum Records. The press release for the album is as follows:

Two major nuclear disasters, Tchernobyl and Fukushima, left its traces in our collective memory. Their devastating impact on the immediate environment left behind the ghost towns of Prypiat and Futaba. French sound artist Bruno Duplant never visited these exclusion zones. He took their existence as a starting point for an electroacoustic composition to investigate the relationship between fiction and reality. Sonic journalism like Peter Cusack's "Sounds from dangerous places" documents the reality of exclusion zones. Bruno Duplant tries to translate the reality of such zones into fiction by using sounds which originally had no relation with these places. Two compositions of same length, one on Prypiat, the other on Futaba. Fiction as testimony of a reality easily forgotten, buried in silence. Fiction as recollection. Cover by Walter Methlagl, mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. 300 copies on 180g vinyl.

You can listen to excerpts from the album above. You can find more information on the album and how to purchase it on the Aussenraum Records website here.

After having released two excellent albums earlier this year, Notice Recordings have two more cassette releases available to stream and purchase. The first comes from Jason Kahn & Tim Olive and is entitled Fukuoka / Osaka. As with Kahn and Olive's Two Sunrise on 845 Audio last year, the music that makes up this release comes from live recordingsof concerts that took place in Japan. You can stream the entire album and purchase the cassette here.

Ryoko Akama and Bruno Duplant also have a new album out entitled immobilité. Akama and Duplant have worked together before—they had an album on Suppedaneum and one with Dominic Lash on Another Timbre, both from last year. The new record can be streamed and purchased here. Both of these new releases from Notice Recordings are limited to 100 cassettes each.
